S35 Preseason All-Conference
Region 16 Pre-Season All-Conference Team:
Lawerence Kroeker – St. Louis: PG, Jr.- Last year’s conference player of the year will once again be one of the best in the conference if not the league. His 20+ ppg average is likely to increase a little while his all-around game continues to develop. With the rest of last years starters returning Kroeker will try to lead a pretty young team to a conference title and maybe further.
Norman Myers- Cincinnati: PG, Sr.- One of two returning starting SR guards for Cinci. His scoring will have to increase with the loss of Khalil Outlaw and will have to be huge for Cinci to continue its dominance of Region 16.
Todd Kyser- Dayton: SG, Sr.- This senior will look to close out his career with four straight first team all-conference selections. Last season was a disappointment for him as he only averaged 16.5 ppg and shot under 50% for the first time in his entire career. However the addition of Larry Graves at point guard will help improve his chances to score. Look for him to once again average well over 20ppg.
Curtis Green- St. Louis: SF So.- Last years FPOY in region 16 will continue to dominate all aspects of the game from the SF spot. His versatility at 6-10 makes him a very dangerous match-up. A key component if St. Louis is going to make a run in the NTT.
Ryan Koch- Youngstown: PG Sr. – An excellent scoring PG and a good defender for Youngstown. While his A/TO is bad for a PG as he is playing out of position he still is the key player on this squad. Last year avg. 17.6 ppg on +50% shooting and over a spg. Another returning all-conference player.
There is 4 returning first team all-conference players and all of them are guards. This region is definitely heavy on the guards and with the loss of Outlaw, has very few if any good post players.
Here is a few unheralded players to watch this year:
Cody Dollard- Dayton: C, So – 14.2ppg, 5rpg: A plus 6 player with tremendous talent at both ends of the floor. A little sad that he got snubbed by both freshman of the year honor in the conf and 2nd team honors but this year his presence will definitely be noted. The only problem he faces is overcoming the lack of a larger post player playing beside him. At 6-8 he’ll have to find a way to match up against larger post players.
Jerry Peacock- Youngstown: SF, Jr- 14.5ppg +50% shooting and 3pt shooting: A great scoring threat from the wing. While he may not be that versatile he is a deadly shooter and one of the best 3pt shooters out there. Along with Koch and Bruce Spain, this Youngstown team seems set to score at very high rate and shoot very accurately.
Francis Jacobs- Pontiac: C, Jr- A guy who has not started but has the projected numbers to nearly average a double-double on a poor team, could also bring in 40 blocks. He could maybe add a little depth to the quality of post players in this region.
