Summary
Conference 13 can be summed up by a tale of two eras.
In the early years (s19-s43 - 25 seasons) Athens coached by weeds (s19 to present), Asheville coached by Jomby (s23-41) and Savannah coached by simon2004 (s27-46) Combined to win 23 conference championships and 21 conference tournament titles. This era also saw the conference's only chance at an NTT title in s29. [edit] Changing of the guard (s44-57 - 14 seasons)
The last of the great teams from the early seasons of c13 was Savannah who under coaches c*00007098 (s47-52) and dabomby (s53-present) continued to dominate up until season 57 where it won 8 regular season titles and 6 tournament titles. Asheville fell into obscurity after coach jomby left for the SimBA in s41 and the sparkle in coach weeds Athens team hasn't produce a conference or tournament championship since 49 causing some to question the 51 seasons of coaching experience. [edit] The modern era (s58-present)
By the time season 58 rolled around, Athens, Asheville and even Savannah have since fallen from the ranks of c13's upper tier. Coach Jomby returned after a stint in the SimBA in s51 and remade Asheville into a double digit winning program but the teams of yesteryear are no longer the dominant power.
Gulf Shores coached by starksdeux (s57-61) absolutely dominated from 58-63 winning 5 conference titles and 5 conference tournaments. The team continues to be an upper echelon c13 team under coach gwoodyard (s63-present) but the past 12 seasons has belonged to an unexpected surge from Boca Raton coached by stormfury (s59-present). The Storm have been 1st or 2nd in the conference regular season and tournament each season since s58. and has seen Boca Raton reach the elite 8 twice. [edit] The future (s70 and beyond)
Conference 13 looks to be gaining steam over the past 4-5 seasons and can no longer be considered the worst conference in l7 a title it held for far to long. With coach Stormfury's squad having the best recruting class in l7 over a 6 season period (s65-70) 11.5 HW/11 SH rating conference 13 now has a national presence. Add to that new coaching additions at Evansville (rsfaithful s67-present), Ft Myers (nemesis s63-present) and Gulf Shores (gwoodyard s63-present) and the conference has suddenly become a solid conference with annual NTT bids and may one day get it's first NTT Title. Boca Raton was traditionally a football school, enjoying the cast offs of larger Florida universities until the 60s. For years, the university settled for whatever happened in the college hoops. senorpepe and his long time assistant c*00007104 held the reigns to the program for 39 seasons. The duo only had mild success both in conference 13 and league 7. When the last of the coaching staff retired following the 58 season, school administrators took a chance on a relatively unknown DIV 3 assistant. Little did they know, Boca's now turned into a basketball school as Coach Stormfury has taken them to 2 straight elite 8s. The school is a staple in the national pre-season DeACCon Challenge and has started recruiting with the elite programs of league 7.
After the school's second straight elite 8, the university's former players and fan base has begun to put donations towards the basketball program and school officials realizing the need to upgrade from The Burrow's 5,000 capacity have recently announced that following the season 70 campaign Boca Raton will open the 71 campaign in the new Stormfury Arena in honor of the coach who's taken the school beyond the 2nd round of the NTT and into a national power.

Ft Myers has always treated its basketball program poorly as evidenced by its poor early performance. Despite its poor funding and the smaller size of the school it enjoyed a brief 8 season improvement while headed by coach uga5 who retired early and followed by miike who unfortunately left for the SimBA leaving the team without effective leadership. The following 12 seasons were dismal as the school focused its efforts on an academic overhaul. As it's academic improved it enjoyed a slight resurgence in its basketball program under the helm of seamus12. The school then decided that it should take a fresh look at its intramural sports programs with a sharp focus on their immediate and long term improvement as a way to bring more attention to the school's growth. Letting seamus12 go, and hiring Nemesis as the head coach brought about an effective change. Nemesis has taken the team to a conference game and has significantly improved its overall program. The past 8 seasons have seen a significant surge in both overall game improvement and talent procurement. As the school begins to invest more money into its basketball program it is now seeing an improvement they hope will continue into the future.
