+/- - Players and teams and attributes are often referred to using a +/- system. A player's +/- is determined by converting each attribute from its word rating to a +/- number. Exc = +2, Good = +1, Fair = 0, Poor = -1, None = -2. By summing a player's attributes a +/- ranking is determined. A player with the attributes PEGNGF could be described as a +4/-3 or +1. If a team starts five "Good" defenders they may be described as "starting +5 defense". Note that each word rating describes a range of actual skill level, so that +/- is only an approximation of actual talent.

4096 Tournament - This tournament has been run 4 times. It takes all of the human coached teams in all the leagues and a number of computer coached teams to make a 4096 team single elimination tournament. Games are run on Tuesdays and Thursdays. see Zenith Tournament.

Bubble - Teams that haven't otherwise qualified for the NTT and are on edge of qualifying for "At Large" NTT places based on their Power Ranking are said to be "on the bubble". This leads to "Bubble Reports" and the like on the message boards for some leagues. The Cut-off PR for an at large NTT bid normally falls somewhere in the 50's.

The second tiebreaker is Power Ranking. The winner receives an automatic berth in the NTT. The Runner-up receives an automatic berth in the PTT (though they may still qualify for the NTT).

Conference Title - Another name for Conference Champion.

Conference Tournament - The 8 team, single elimination, knockout tournament that happens for each conference in games 16-18. The winner gains an automatic berth in the NTT. Conference Tourney finalist losers gain a berth in the PTT (though they may still qualify for the NTT).

Cycle - Another term for season. Also used to describe teams that are run synchronously. eg Leagues 6 and 15 run on the same cycle.

DTT - An abbreviation for "District Title Tournament". The lowest of the four end of season tournaments.

First Drop - If a team has the second most recruiting points on a player they may be referred to as being "first drop" on that player. If the team in the lead prioritizes other recruits or signs three better players, the player may "drop" to the team with the second most points.

FotY - An abbreviation for "Freshman of the Year". LFotY is "League Freshman of the Year". CxFotY is "Conference X Freshman of the Year".

Lead - Normally refers to a recruit where the team with the most recruiting points on that players has 4 or more recruiting points than the next nearest team. The player will appear as 0/x in the w-3/w-12 columns. Sometimes a coach will know that they are ahead by a smaller number than 4 RPE and still refer to the player as a lead. (Others would classify this as a tie)

Lottery, Lotto - A recruit that is (or is likely to be) maxed by a large number of coaches leading to a large tie.

Safety Net - Any recruit that is not a Max but is still being pursued by a team is part of the "safety net". It is recommended that you try and establish at least 3 clear leads in your safety net so that if you don't break any ties you will avoid a walk-on.

SimStats - A stats website created by Arborwolf available to UTT teams. Record-keeping began in around season 18 (depending on which league you are in)

SOS - An abbreviation for "Strength of Schedule"

Sponsor - A level above a UTT team. Receives all UTT perks and 90RPE each week.

SS - An abbreviation for Simulated Sports, referring to the Simulated Sports College Basketball Simulation.

Stud - A talented player.

Tie - A recruit where two or more coaches are tied for the most recruiting points spent on that recruit. Often referred to by size. A "3/3 tie" would be a recruit with 4 coaches tied for the most RPE. (see w3/w12)

UTT - An abbreviation for "Upper Tier Team". Receives 83RPE each week and 20 scholarships. Also receives access to the SimStats site and access to the recruiting spreadsheet.

w-3/w-12, w3/w12 - The W-3 and W-12 columns (On your "My Top 35" page) list the number of teams within 3 and 12 RPE of you for a given recruit. The count EXCLUDES your team, but INCLUDES ties and anyone ahead of you. For example, if you lead on a recruit and have 0/0 for W-3/W-12, then no one is within 12 RPE. If you are 0/1, then no one is within 3, but there is 1 other team within 12. 1/1 would indicate that there is 1 team within 3 (and of course that same team is also within 12). Note that if you have less than 13RPE you will see 255 teams in the w-12 column.

Walk-on, walk on - A player that signs with a team when the team had less than 28RPE's on that player (or often 0 RPE). Generally a bad player. Many coaches simply use "walk on" to refer to a player that was not wanted, and only signed because of a failure to land a full class of three desired recruits.

Zenith Tournament - The first 4096 tournament was suggested and sponsored by coach Zenith.
