Most Outstanding Freshman
Kirk McDaniel (Peoria) and Akili Laseter (Des Moines)
In a GAMIT first, I have decided to award a Co-Most Outstanding Freshman Award to Kirk McDaniel of Peoria and Akili Laseter of Des Moines. Both of these kids were huge for their teams and both had very nice tournaments. I thought about this one for a long time, and I still couldn't put one over the other. Congrats to both!
Most Outstanding Player
Ike Hepner (Montgomery)
Montgomery gets their second straight GAMIT MOP as Ike Hepner follows in the footsteps of War Eagle great Louie Jackson. Ike lit up the scoreboard from all over the place and actually tied Anchorage's Jose Reeder for most points scored throughout the tournament at 23.8 ppg. While there were plenty of candidates for this award, I believe Ike was the most consistent as he didn't have an off night at all in GAMIT.
6th Man Award
Delbert Lemmon (Wichita)
Delbert was instant offense off the bench for the Bayou Bengals as he averaged double figures in less than 20 mpg. He proved night in and night out to be a tough matchup for most teams and an incredible weapon off the bench.
